How to add new user in Kubuntu (KDE)

Even though this article is about adding a new user in Kubuntu, it's generally the same with any Linux distribution using KDE as their desktop environment. This article is specific to KDE version 4.

Steps

Open System Settings Window

From the K Menu, which is usually located on the lower left of the screen, go to the Computer tab and click on the System Settings link

Open the ''User Management'' window

On the System Settings window, open the User Management window by clicking on the icon under the System Administration category

Add new user

At the User Management window, click on the New button to add a new user

Enter user details

You can now start entering user details such as the login name and the full name. The rest of the fields are automatically set

Enter Privileges and Groups details

Select the Privileges and Groups tab and you can optionally set groups you want the user to belong to, or you can just leave it to the default values

Enter Password/Security details

Select the Password/Security tab enter the password for the user. You can also set the password expiration date etcetera if you know what you're doing

Done

Click on the Ok button and that's it, you have just added a new user in Kubuntu. You can see the new user you have just added in the list of users
